How to play
One snake, one piece of food, and a board that keeps getting more crowded. Every bite makes you longer, which makes every turn more dangerous. The game is not about speed. It is about never running out of space.
You control a snake that moves continuously in one direction. Steer it toward the food. Each piece you eat adds one segment to your body and one point to your score. The snake never stops and never slows down, so a wrong turn is usually fatal within a second.
You lose in two ways: running into a wall, or running into your own body. The second one is what actually kills good runs, because your body only becomes an obstacle once you are long enough for it to matter. Early on you can turn almost freely. After thirty segments, the board is a maze you built yourself.
Your best score is saved in the browser. There is no level system and no power-ups: the entire difficulty curve comes from your own length.
Strategy that actually helps
- Hug the wall. Travel along the outer edge and the wall stops being a threat. Beginners die in the middle of the board, hitting a wall they forgot was there.
- At the start of a run, eat in a wide loop instead of chasing the food in a straight line. A compact snake is easier to keep out of its own way later.
- Never turn directly back into your own neck. The moment your body is three segments long, a 180-degree turn is instant death.
- Learn to spiral. When the board gets crowded, trace a tightening square around the food instead of going straight at it.
- Do not chase food that puts you in a corner. Let it sit. Another one spawns the moment you eat, and a bad bite costs more than a missed one.
Questions
Does the snake speed up?
No. The movement speed is constant, so the difficulty comes only from your own length. That keeps runs skill-based instead of turning into a reaction test.
Can I pause the game?
Yes, press Space or tap the pause button. The game pauses instantly and resumes on the same tick, so pausing mid-turn is safe.
Why does the snake keep moving after I die?
It does not. The game stops on collision and shows the final score. If the snake looks like it is still moving, a direction key is being held down at the moment of death.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Swipe anywhere on the board to change direction. The board scales to the screen width and the swipe zone covers the whole play area, so you do not need to hit small buttons.
